Teacher Appreciation Week Ideas

It's Teacher Appreciation Week this week so I spent some time this weekend shopping for some gifts for our two teachers. I tried to get creative this year and be crafty. So here are some pictures of what I made.

First, I bought cone shaped styrofoam pieces from Jo-Ann's and some artificial flowers. I covered the styrofoam with orange tissue paper to match the color of the pencils. Then I hot glued the pencils around the outside of the styrofoam. Then I wrapped the pencils in a ribbon and topped it off with a gem glued to the bow. I Stuck the flowers in the top into the styrofoam. I made tags out of scrapbook paper and tied them around the top of the flowers. The pencils can be re-used later. The hot glue comes off easily.

The next thing I did was buy glass jars with silver lids that screw on. At our local home supply store they were only about $3.00 a piece. I found a "You Rule" image online and I printed it onto a clear label sheet that I got at Office Max. I put the labels on the front and back of the glass. Then I put a bag of Skittles in the jar. I made a thank you note and tied it onto the jar so the kids could sign them.

At the same home supply store, I bought some plastic cups with straws that had nice purple and pink decorations on them. I stuffed the insides with purple tissue paper. Then I put three crystal light single serving drink mixes in them. I added the same thank you note that I did in the above gift.

Finally,  I found a cute journal that says "Coffee" at Office Max. It is for a teacher that truly loves coffee. I got an insulated cup for a few dollars at the same home supply store above. Incidentally, the store I am talking about is one that is located in many places in Florida. It is called Garden Ridge and they have a big warehouse of home and garden stuff. I found some good deals there.

My goal was to have something for every day of the week this week to give to each teacher. For the last day, I have a gift card for each of them. Our teachers work really hard to educate our kids so I want them to know they are very appreciated!

Have a great week!
